The engage gear signal has been raised for Mar-Train Racing’s 2015 season as they have taken delivery of a New Year’s present from Yamaha UK in the form of two all new YZF R1Ms. After much hype and speculation the Japanese marque launched the next generation R1 at the Milan motorcycle show at the beginning of November and after seeing it in person team owner Tim Martin has been eager to get started on his new project.

Tim Martin

We attended the Milan motorcycle show as guests of Yamaha UK and the hype around the launch of the new R1 really was something else. Time will tell of course on just how successful it will be but Yamaha have put a lot of thought and money into the producing a sports bike inspired by MotoGP technology so I am sure they will be a fantastic piece of kit.

Boost has been working hard on the R6 over the winter to allow us to now concentrate on preparing the R1 for Dean so we cannot wait to see what the big girls are like under the skin.

This is a two year project with Yamaha UK but their support to date has been fantastic and Dean has proven himself a winner on both Supersport and Superbike machinery so I am confident we have the right combination to win races sooner rather than later.”

After being named as the Official Yamaha UK Road Race team for 2015 and 2016 Mar-Train will front the new R1’s assault on International Road Racing in the Superstock and Superbike classes as well as competing in the Supersport class on the iconic YZF R6 on which the team have enjoyed so much success. Bradford man Dean Harrison enters his second term with the Lisburn based outfit after a successful 2014 in which he scored Southern 100 and Scarborough doubles as well as two 4th place finishes at the Isle of Man TT races.

As well as the three Internationals Mar-train will compete in selected National road races, the Southern 100 and a number of Scarborough events.
