I can think of very few other things that would encourage the most dangerous and risk-taking riding than to have everything depending on one lap - particularly as as been said, with little practice. If the machines will only last one lap at race speeds, how will they do enough practice to qualify, and wasn't there some recent correspondence about the dangers of over-stressing engines?
Other "sensible" suggestions could be night racing, naked tandem races (mixed, of course) and rolling an orange round the course by pushing it with your nose..............."fmg" as we used to say at the Saltbox!
