Ellison: “Anything but a win is not good enough now”

Donington Park race winner James Ellison heads to Brands Hatch this weekend (17/18/19 April) declaring that nothing less than victories will do in his quest for his first MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship title.

Ellison celebrated victory at Donington Park in the opening race of the season, but a battery problem ahead of race two left him starting at the back of the grid and forced to fight his way through the pack. The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider finished 12th but left the opening event disappointed because they had the potential to achieve more.

However, Ellison and the team are now ready to battle for another winning performance on the 1.2-mile Indy circuit this weekend.

Ellison said:

"After the highs from race one it was unfortunate to lose the chance to score more points again in race two, for something that could have been prevented. It was disappointing that the second race was ruined, but we have had a team debrief and hopefully we should never be in the same situation again and now we can move forward.

"Brands Hatch is going to be so important to qualify on the front two rows because the times are going to be much closer because of the shorter lap. The Indy circuit closes everyone up so small mistakes cost you more, but we are as ready as we can be.

"Last year we were happy to leave the first round with podiums for the team and now we are coming off podiums from the last three rounds if you include Silverstone and Brands Hatch last year.  Now anything but a win is not good enough, we wanted them at Donington and I still feel like we had something in reserve in race one if we needed it. I can't wait!"
