Race two postponed due to conditions

The second race of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship has been postponed until the August Bank Holiday round at Cadwell Park following heavy rainfall at Oulton Park this afternoon that bought a premature end to the event despite the best efforts of the Racesafe marshals.

Following the Sunoco British 125GP race the rain began to fall heavier and the feature race for the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship was delayed whilst the marshals and various officials worked tirelessly to try and get racing underway again at the Cheshire circuit.

The organisers worked through heavy rain to run several races on the programme, including the opening BSB, Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship, Harley Davidson XR1200 and Sunoco British 125GP races. The remaining races of the day will be rescheduled.

BSB Series Director Stuart Higgs said:

"We have done everything possible to get racing back underway today, but unfortunately with the weather across the country today we have had to postpone the races. I want to thank the dedicated team and fans at Oulton Park for doing everything to try and continue with the event, despite the terrible conditions they were up against. The Racesafe marshals dealt with several incidents today and they did a great job to ensure that some racing could still take place for the fans both at the circuit and watching at home."
