Paul Bird Motorsport intimate BSB return

Double BSB championship-winning team Paul Bird Motorsport could make a sensational comeback to next seasons (2012) MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship as the team prepares to simultaneously move into the MotoGP World Championship and return to the UK paddock.

Bird, whose Penrith-based team recently secured their maiden WSB race victory in the hands of former BSB title contender Tom Sykes at the Nurburgring, has intimated in MotorCycle News to be eyeing a return to the BSB series as he sets his sights on a third BSB crown. Bird led his team to victory in the 2002 and 2003 BSB championships and is believed to be eager to return as the championship is set to enter a new era with the changing technical regulations for 2012.

Bird made an immediate commitment at the time of Stuart Easton's accident at the North West 200 road races that he would employ the Scotsman in 2012 and he would seem to be the logical choice for one of the two Superbike berths. The other candidate that Bird has expressed a desire to work with again is his 2003 Champion Shane Byrne.
