The PTR Honda World Supersport teams finished a successful first 2012 shakedown test at Almeria in Spain today.

Sam Lowes on his Bogdanka PTR Honda eased himself back into fast lap times while his new team mate Mathew Scholtz was impressively less than a second behind on his debut for the team.

PTR Honda’s Ronan Quarmby got to grips with his new bike and team quickly and finished just ahead of his team mate Patrick ‘PJ’ Jacobsen – both of them just over half second behind Lowes.

Martin Jessopp on the Riders PTR Honda showed good potential taking nearly two seconds from his first day best to match the time of Scholtz at the end of the test.

The team and riders are next in action at the Phillip Island test in Australia on 20th – 21st February before the first round of the Championship at the same track on Sunday 26th February.

Simon Buckmaster, PTR Honda Team Manager:

“It has been a very positive test with the riders and their technicians gelling well and getting to know each other. This was a shakedown test and designed to set us up for the first official test at Phillip Island in Australia. We have learnt a lot, the riders have learnt a lot and we will be in good shape for the next test and the races.”

Test times
Sam Lowes 1.38,6
Ronan Quarmby 1.39,1
PJ Jacobsen 1.39,3
Mathew Scholtz 1.39,5
