Three days of Moto2 and Moto3 testing starting today (Monday) at the Jerez circuit will be followed by three days of MotoGP activity as teams and riders make their final preparations ahead of the season start in Qatar.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be the sole terrain of the Moto2 and Moto3 categories, with both classes sharing the track for a mixed morning and early afternoon session before having category-specific runs in the afternoon.

In Moto2 teams will run with the official Honda engines fitted by Geo Technology for the first time this pre-season, and the focus will undoubtedly be on Marc Marquez. The 2011 Championship runner-up rolls out for his first official test on his Suter machine, after completing a private test at Albacete 10 days ago – the first time he had ridden Moto2 machinery since his Sepang crash last October which caused him vision problems.

Other riders aiming to fine tune their preparations will be a long list of Championship hopefuls in the shape of Marc VDS Racing riders Scott Redding and Mika Kallio, who have made the switch to Kalex machinery for 2012, Simone Corsi, returning 2010 World Champion Toni Elias, Thomas Luthi, 2011 125cc Champion Nico Terol, Julian Simon and Bradley Smith.

In Moto3 final tweaks will be made to the new 250cc four-stroke machines ahead of their Championship debut, with the likes of Sandro Cortese, Maverick Viñales, Danny Kent, Luis Salom, Miguel Oliveira, Kenta Fujii and Jonas Folger all on track.

A break on Thursday will then be followed by three days of intense MotoGP action as the entire premier class bikes unite on track for the first time this pre-season.

The final amendments ahead of the start of the new 1000cc era will take place with the bikes on track from 10am to 6pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

World Champion Casey Stoner and Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa have been the pace men throughout pre-season, and Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies on the factory M1 and Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow on Monster Yamaha Tech 3 machinery will all be aiming to be closer to the top. Work remains for Ducati duo Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden, whilst the CRT machines will also all be on track as they are measured against one another for the first time proper.
