Repsol Honda Team’s Casey Stoner continues to look in unstoppable form as he led the final free practice at the AirAsia Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island ahead of Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa.

Stoner went one better again this morning as he improved his time from yesterday and firmly cemented his dominance at his home track with a stunning time of 1.29’665, which was over a second off the nearest challenger, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Lorenzo. As Stoner is aiming for his final swan song at his home track, Lorenzo will be firmly focussing on other Repsol rider Dani Pedrosa, who he needs to beat this weekend in order to stand a chance of winning the championship a race early. Pedrosa, who was quicker than Lorenzo yesterday, could not better that feat today, yet still ended in third, just under three tenths off him.

Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow continues to show tremendous form despite suffering from illness in fourth, going faster than his teammate Andrea Dovizioso, who suffered an uncharacteristic crash half way through the session. He was able to head back out again on his second machine. San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Álvaro Bautista, who was unfortunately to hit a seagull in the session, was able to post the sixth fastest time. The story of the morning was however Power Electronics Aspar’s Randy de Puniet, who placed his CRT seventh, and was the last of the machines within two seconds of Stoner.

LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradl will hope to find something extra come qualifying as he was down in eighth, followed by Ducati Team’s Valentino Rossi and Cardion AB Racing’s Karel Abraham. Apart from Dovizioso’s crash, Pramac Racing Team’s Héctor Barberá also took a tumble early in the session, yet also ended the practice on his second bike.
