In the final free Moto2™ practice session at the AirAsia Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island it was Marc VDS Racing Team’s Scott Redding who went quickest in front of Pol Espargaró and Marc Márquez.

Redding was on top form as he set the quickest time of the weekend with a 1.34’018, narrowly ousting Tuenti Movil HP 40’s Espargaró into second by less than three hundredths. Behind the two, Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s Marc Márquez, who stands a very good chance of winning the championship in tomorrow’s race, came in third, although did suffer two uncharacteristic runs off track.

Speed Master’s Andrea Iannone, who made a slow start to the session, looked to have found some form that has been missing over the last two rounds, as he put his bike in fourth, ahead of QMMF Racing’s Anthony West. West, a podium sitter last time out, is doing a good job at dispelling his reputation as solely a wet-weather specialist, with consistently high times in the dry across all sessions.

JiR Moto2’s French rookie Johann Zarco was only narrowly behind the Australian in sixth, and managed to hold off the change from Came IodaRacing Project’s Simone Corsi, who was just under eight tenths off the top. Interwetten-Paddock’s Tom Lüthi had looked like he would head further up the timesheets, yet encountered traffic on his final lap to finish in eighth, ahead of GP Team Switzerland’s Randy Krummenacher and Mapfre Aspar Team Moto2’s Jordi Torres.

NGM Mobile Forward Racing’s Yuki Takahashi was an early crasher in the session, and was followed later by SAG Team’s Marco Colandrea. Both walked away from their crashes unhurt.
