Oulton Park pit straight bridge returns for 60th anniversary year

Oulton Park circuit owner MSV has installed a new footbridge at the famous Cheshire circuit to improve access for spectators at its race events. Located at the summit of Deer Leap, near the start/finish line, it recalls the original bridge that stood at the circuit from the 1950s to 80s and work was completed shortly before Christmas.

The original bridge features in many famous shots from the circuit, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2012. The new version is expected to become just as familiar in start and finish photos from the venue's many races, including the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, British Touring Car Championship and Gold Cup meetings.

Circuit Manager Simon Bonser said:

"The bridge has been installed as the outside of the circuit behind Lodge Corner and Old Hall Corner has become increasingly popular with spectators since we improved the banking areas. We wanted to allow spectators easy access from these great corners back to the infield where we have most of the catering and shopping facilities.

"Camping at Oulton Park, based behind Old Hall corner, has also attracted greater numbers, and now campers will be able to move around the venue much more easily, rather than having to wait for crossing points to open between races."
