Fans’’ favourites Carl Fogarty and Jamie Whitham will make a special visit to the Vauxhall International North West 200 in May to present their popular ‘Givin it Gas’ chat show.

The event will take place in the hospitality marquee on Wednesday evening, May 15, as the legendary racers host the show in Northern Ireland for the first time.

Fans will have the chance to quiz the pair about their racing exploits, when Foggy’s relationship with Ulster racers Joey Dunlop and Phillip McCallen is sure to prove a key topic of conversation.

STEP BACK IN TIME
Honda teammates Jamie Whitham, Phillip McCallen and Carl Fogarty at the North West in the 1980s.

Blackburn man Fogarty, who was a special guest at the North West 200 in 2012 as he returned to the event for the first time in almost 20 years, is best remembered on the North Coast for his emotional Superbike double in 1993 on the Moto Cinelli Ducati.

He is also regarded as the greatest World Superbike rider ever, winning the title four times.

Fogarty – who has been touring the UK with Whitham since 2010 running the ‘Givin it Gas’ show – also won the World Formula One crown in 1998.

His epic battle with Steve Hislop in the 1992 Senior TT recently topped the poll as the ‘Greatest TT Race of All Time’ and although the Yamaha rider lost out on the win by just four seconds to Hislop on the Norton, Fogarty’s outright lap stood for seven years until it was broken in 1999 by Jim Moodie.

Double British champion Whitham is a previous winner of the Production race at the North West in 1989 when he beat Dave Leach, and the 46-year-old from Huddersfield also finished on the podium at the TT.

Best friends Fogarty and Whitham are an entertaining double act and their light-hearted show in May is certain to be a hit with fans in the NW200 paddock.

The event on May 15 is scheduled for a 7.30pm start.
