Redding undergoes surgery ahead of Aragon

Moto2™ championship leader Scott Redding underwent an operation in Barcelona on Wednesday in order to rectify compartment syndrome in his right forearm.

Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) had the surgery at the Quiron Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona, with the compartment syndrome issue having been causing numbness in the fingers and a progressive loss of strength in the right arm as the Englishman ended last Sunday’s San Marino Grand Prix in sixth position.

With the procedure having carried out by Dr. Xavier Mir, Redding was discharged from hospital on Thursday and will undergo a medical check-up next Monday in order to review progress. This will not affect his participation in the Grand Prix of Aragon, although he is aware that he will not have fully recovered from the operation.

Redding currently heads the Moto2™ World Championship by 23 points, ahead of rival Pol Espargaro (Tuenti HP 40) who won at Misano last Sunday.
