Josh Brookes and Tyco Suzuki returned to the top of the times in the opening MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship free practice session in the damp morning conditions at Silverstone as he remained ahead of Milwaukee Yamaha's James Ellison.

The damp session was initially led by Dan Linfoot on the Lloyds British GBmoto Honda, before Jakub Smrz had his turn at the top of the times for Padgetts Honda. However with just over ten minutes remaining Brookes moved from second to the top as he prepares to close the deficit in the standings this weekend.
