British Supersport title favourite Stuart Easton will return to the British Superbike Championship in 2014 with Paul Bird Motorsport.

Easton, who leads the Supersport title race by 19 points from Northern Ireland’s Alastair Seeley, has been flying the flag for top Ulster outfit Mar-Train Racing this season.

The popular Scottish rider, who has made no secret of his desire to compete at the Isle of Man TT races in the future, is also set to return to the North West 200 again next May.

Carrick man Seeley, meanwhile, is in the running to replace Easton in the blue and white Mar-Train colours.

Team owner Tim Martin told the News Letter: “I wish Stuart all the very best and you really can’t get much better than the team he is going to.

“I had many conversations with Stuart about the possibility of joining Superbikes next year as a team but in the end I decided that we weren’t ready to make that transition yet. Hopefully he can go on and win the Supersport title for us before he leaves.”

Brands Hatch hosts the final BSB round on October 20.
