2014 Vauxhall International North West 200 practice and race schedule announced

The full schedule of practice and racing for the 2014 Vauxhall International North West 200 has been released.

Roads will close on Tuesday, May 13 at 9.15 am with five practice sessions scheduled before re-opening at 2.45pm.

Each session will last 45 minutes and first on to the road will be the Newcomers at 9.45am, followed by Supersport, Superbike, Supertwin and finally Superstock machines at 1.30pm.

Roads will again close at 9.15 am on Thursday, May 15 with the four practice sessions lasting 5 minutes longer than Tuesday’s, beginning with the 650cc Supertwins at 10 am. Superstock and Supersport machines will follow before the all important final Superbike session brings the two days of practice to an end at 2.15 pm.

Thursday evening will see the beginning of competitive action at the 2014 North West with roads closing at 5.15pm and the flag dropping on the opening Ballymoney Borough Council Supersport event at 6pm. The Vauxhall Supertwin race will follow an hour later and the evening’s proceedings will be drawn to a close at 8pm with the Superstock race sponsored by newcomer, Pirtek. Roads are scheduled to re-open at 9pm.

Roads will close on the morning of the main race day, Saturday, May 17 at 9.30am and another new North West sponsor, Milwaukee Power Tools, will back the opening Supersport race. The first of Saturday’s two superbike races is the second race on the day’s programme, supported by Event Serv. Popular Portstewart watering hole, the Anchor Bar and Restaurant Complex, will sponsor the Supertwin event and another local company, CP Hire, will continue their long term backing of the Superstock race. The feature race of the day, the Vauxhall North West 200 Superbike race, will bring the curtain down on the 2014 races.

Competitors should also note that there are important changes to the scrutineering schedule for 2014, with each class being allocated a specific time for machine inspection on all three days of action.
