MCE BSB teams wrap up In Spain ready for UK return

Thursday marked the end of the three day Spanish test in Almeria as the MCE British Superbike teams now return home to the UK, ready for the two official UK tests with Shane 'Shakey' Byrne topping the times.

Byrne had held his position at the top but the positions continued to change throughout the three days, with the teams continued their development work ahead of the opening round of the season at Brands Hatch this Easter.

Stuart Easton on the second Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki joined his team-mate in the final session of the day for some formation flying laps which moved the Scot up the order to second in the closing stages. Easton's improvement showed he was continuing to move forward after his high-speed crash on the opening day that lost him the afternoon session.

Quattro Plant Kawasaki ended their opening test positively with Dan Linfoot setting the third fastest time set in the morning session of the final day, edging out Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki's Chris Walker's best lap of yesterday. James Ellison was just 0.142s adrift of his team-mate, setting his best time on the final day as they continued to make further changes throughout the day in preparation for the official test at Donington Park next week.

Howie Mainwaring set his best lap on day two, but continued to make positive steps forward with the Quattro Plant Kawasaki with Martin Jessopp on the RidersRacing BMW closing to within 0.228s on combined times.

Almeria test, combined times (three days)

1. Shane Byrne (Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki) 1m:35.747s
