Scottish Motorcycle Racing Championship revs into life

The first round of the 2014 Scottish Motorcycle Racing Championship is set to be one of the biggest starts to season that we have seen in a few years. With over 170 racers entered into the seven different race classes. Including Scottish Superbikes, Scottish Superstock 600, Scottish Lightweights and Sidecars. With each class getting four races over the weekend; it will be a great start to the season for racers and spectators alike.

Riders from all of Scotland and England are gearing up for what will be an amazing weekend of racing.

If you like the Scottish Superbike class you will see Andrew Tasker #79 from Clackmannan on his Black Motorcycle Law sponsored Kawasaki ZX10R competing with Donald MacFadyen from Inverness on his BMWS1000R and Roy Houston #36 from Kirkcaldy racing his Kirkcaldy Kawasaki sponsored Kawasaki ZX10R to name but a few. With over 35 entrees in this class it is guaranteed to offer some amazing racing.

In the Scottish Superstock 600 Class, 2013 Scottish Superstock 600 Champion, Paul McClung from Haddington racing the Signman, Lemac sponsored Kawasaki ZX6R, will be looking to defend his title throughout the season against riders like Owen Fozzard #92 from Dunfermline on his bright yellow Yamaha R6, Sammi Tasker #97 from Clackmannan on her bright pink Suzuki GSXR600 and Niall Campbell #38 from Cambuslang on his Yamaha R6. With so many fast racers in this class it is going to be nail biting season to see who becomes the 2014 champion.

The Lightweight Class offers you the chance to see Martin Harrison #35, from North Berwick racing his Kawasaki ER650, Craig Ross #89 from Elphinstone racing his Suzuki SV650 and Lianne Mayhew #11 from Buchlyvie on the Honda CBR 400 all competing for the win.

The Melville Club, Post Classics Class will consist of riders such as Garry Hoggarth #19 from Ormiston racing his Yamaha FZ750, John MacFarlane #153 from Prestonpans racing his Suzuki GSXR1100 Tornado and Colin Tweedle #8 from Selkirk on his Yamaha 350LC.

The first round will be held at East Fortune Race Circuit, Nr Haddington on 12th/13th April. With entry to the track only £10 and free entry to under 16’s and over 60’s. It offers an inexpensive way to enjoy Scottish Motorcycle Racing. The championship will be decided over eight rounds between April and September. The second round will be held at Knockhill Race Circuit later in the month.
