On Saturday 12 July, during the qualifying session for the German round at the Sachsenring circuit, the sidecar team of Kurt Hock and Enrico Becker suffered a serious accident at turn 12.

Immediate rescue measures were not able to save the life of passenger Becker, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Kurt Hock was immediately taken to the “Klinikum Chemnitz”.


It was the wish of the family and the grid of the Sidecars World Championship to proceed with the race on Sunday 13 July at 16:35 at the Sachsenring.

The FIM extends its deepest condolences to Enrico Becker’s family, friends, team and the German Motorcycling Federation (DMSB) for this tragic loss. Enrico was one of the best known and most successful passenger of the Sidecar scene and will be sorely missed.
