Oddly enough there was a piece in the newspaper here this morning about Chris Vermeulen, acknowledgeing his great debt to the late Barry Sheene.
Barry helped finance him to go to Europe in 2000. He is happy to be carrying number 7 this year in Barry's memory.
This is a good example of why numbers should not be retired from racing.
Barry Sheene encouraged and helped many young riders and it must be great for them to see his number out there doing so well.
And what a tribute to Joey it was this year to see his number 3 leading the field again at the TT.

And a man from Ballymoney
