Ryuichi Kiyonari and Shane 'Shakey' Byrne battled it out for the top spot in the second MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship session at Silverstone this afternoon, with the 'War for Four' title contenders separated by just 0.131s.

Kiyonari and Byrne continued to switch places at the top of the times before John Hopkins fired himself up the order to third on the Tyco Suzuki, but in the closing moments the American was pushed to fourth by an improving Dan Linfoot on the Quattro Plant Kawasaki.

Tommy Bridewell moved ahead of his team-mate to hold fifth place, whilst Josh Waters fired the second Tyco Suzuki to sixth place in the closing stages. James Westmoreland was seventh fastest on the second of the Buildbase BMWs with Josh Brookes dropping to eighth place.

Peter Hickman and Stuart Easton completed the top ten with Chris Walker holding 15th place as he battles from his Assen crash.
