James Ellison started his opening test with the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team with a pair of 'confidence-inspiring' sessions that saw him get on the pace from the beginning as the team kicked off their 2015 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship crusade.

Ellison remains with the team for the second consecutive season but was already impressed with their initial pace after the first sessions of the day as they get back up to speed ahead of the new season.

Ellison said after the opening sessions of the day:

"We went out this morning to do a quick run and did checks with the bike and then stay out for the whole session to get up to speed again. We were cruising round, but the lap time we did this morning took me 60 laps to do last year, so that was quite confidence inspiring.

"We have a new engine in the bike with a new clutch rather than what we used last year and so that was quite a big difference and we were just getting rid of teething problems. The bike feels strong and we will give it full power this afternoon."
