The Mid Antrim 150 will return to the Irish road racing calendar in 2016 after securing an overall title sponsor for the first time since 1982.

Belfast company JFM Haulage will back the popular National meeting, which will be held around the 3.6-mile Clough course.

Improvements will be made to the road surface at selected parts of the course and new paddock facilities have been acquired.

The Mid Antrim 150 club hopes to be in a position to confirm its individual race sponsors before the end of November and further details will be announced soon.

Club chairman Jack Agnew said:

“The club has been very active since its formation in December last year and are very committed in partnership with all our sponsors to promoting good quality events in 2016 and beyond.

“The race has not had a title sponsor since 1982 and the club would like to express their thanks to Sean Crawford of JFM for coming on board in partnership with the club for next year’s race.”

The Mid Antrim 150 was last held in 2013 but has not taken place since due to a financial shortfall.

On Sunday, News Letter columnist and BBC Sport NI pundit Liam Beckett will abseil down the front of the Europa Hotel in Belfast around 2pm to help promote the return of the race.
