Crutchlow: “We had a situation that was out of our control”

Cal Crutchlow makes the best of a difficult situation, shifting his attention to working with the hard tyres.

Monday was a difficult day for LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow, the Brit feeling that he was only able to achieve 30% of his maximum. As such he was eager to get out on the Seapng circuit on Tuesday but a crash from Loris Baz saw riders forced to stay inside the pits as Michelin assessed a potential issue. While there was no conclusive decision, Michelin withdrew the soft rear in order to be certain, this meant all riders only had access to the hard rear for the remainder of the day. Even with this slight hurdle, Crutchlow was able to complete his testing program for the day, but there is still work to be done on Wednesday. A late 2’00.899 pulled the British rider up to fifth overall.

Cal Crutchlow:

“Today was a very demanding day, we had a situation that was out of our control, and out of all the riders’ control, so we made the best of it by working with the hard tyre. We only used that harder tyre all day anyway and hadn’t even tried the soft. We worked through the things we needed to work on with the electronics, as well as some small settings on the bike, then when we needed to push a little we were able to push. So overall we are a little happier than yesterday, and tonight we will be working really hard again, because the information we have gathered is important for the LCR Team and for Honda to give us a direction for the coming season.”
