!
Without appearing a total wally, I would like a bit of help this weekend....

There's only the F1 on TV and it looks pretty foul weatherwise..

Right then......
Should anyone decide to make a musical based upon the TT, whose music could be used ?

I have "Island of Dreams" ," Does your mother know", "Sailing" and many more which, when I hear them played, make me think of the TT and the Isle of Man all year round...

Leaving out the obvious ones, has anyone got their favourites which they associate with that great event to come soon....

I am QUITE serious but having a strange mood swing this weekend !! I feel strangely happy for a change. Only days to go !

Please bear with me...
I really can't wait to see the island !

There is a great song called or with the line "This must be just like living in paradise"

Rings my bell everytime it used to be played in the Lido

Or what about a George Throgood cover of "One burbon one scotch one beer"
Or good old George Formby and any of the songs from No Limits
Or possibley my favourite is American Pie as performed by Ed the owner and worlds greatest barman of the now gone Delamere, manys a night late night all night drinking was had in there.......happy happy days

I'm on good form to ian got my Manx GP entries accepted today

Re: The Time To Come
Anything by Steve Gibbons.
I`ve had some great drunken nights being entertained by Steve at various venues on the island.

Every time I hear "Saturday night at the movies", it takes me to the Bungalow, where it played over and over in 1972, when I was watching there.

Re: !
I bought a cassette in about 1985 at one of Steve Gibbons gigs at Villiers Hotel (I think).
It`s called Tried & Tested.
Track list for side 1:

1. BSA

2. Harley Davidson

3. Motorcycle Song

4. Triumph Bonneville
Every track is a cracker!
Steve was a great supporter of the TT and got involved in sponsorship for a while. Haven`t seen him over there for a while.
Another great band and supporter of the TT is Bob Fish (Johnny & The Roccos). Fantastic 50`s rock & roll band from Hawick. Remember seeing them at The Majestic a good few years ago. Before it got knocked down for housing.

Re: !
I can think of a few "tunes" which remind me of TT(s).
I seem to remember that Mike Hailwoods favourite track at the time was the old Thunderclap Newman record.
But, who remembers the folky "TT hall of fame?" with a b side about the Laxey wheeel? All in a very cheapo, naff cardboard sleeve, with a transfer on it? I still have my copy.

"...from the pioneers of yesterday to the heroes of today...."

"....for their name will live forever, in the TT hall of fame...."

eee, them were't days!

Mike

Re: Tunes of Glory
Another Lido classic "Jump" by Van Halen.

Do any board regulars remember the Lido or Linzi Drew one of many lovely ladies to appear there.

I still have my admission ticket from the last ever TT night in the Lido I've even got the empty tin of the last beer that I bought there.
