Honda Racing looking to return to form at Brands Hatch

This weekend (20-22 July) marks the halfway point of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, with round six taking place at Brands Hatch in Kent. The weekend is an important outing for Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot and Jason O’Halloran, who will be looking to make amends and start pushing towards the all-important top-six.

Returning to Brands for the second time this year, Linfoot and O’Halloran will be unleashing the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblades on the 2.4-mile GP circuit, where both Linfoot and ‘The O’Show’ have secured podium finishes in the past.

Plagued with injuries and bad luck in recent outings, the Honda duo will be looking to put recent woes behind them and push on in order to collect vital championship points towards the top-six, where currently O’Halloran is sitting 10th and Linfoot 14th, as the Showdown looms.

Track action for the sixth round gets underway on Friday (20 July) with first practice taking place at 10.15-11.00. Live timing across the weekend will be available from: britishsuperbike.com/live-timing

#4 -  Dan Linfoot

I’m excited to get going this weekend; I love riding the GP track and on the whole I am feeling good. We got a podium at the GP circuit last year, so in the run up to the races over the weekend we need to be in the best possible position to get a good start. Knockhill wasn’t a great round for us, with a few issues but I’m looking forward to getting out this weekend and pushing to be at the sharp end. I feel like we can be in the mix, the CBR feels good and both myself and Jason have had podiums this year, so it’s there, we just need to get back up there fighting for those podiums and wins.

#22 -  Jason O'Halloran

I really enjoy racing the full GP circuit at Brands Hatch, so I am excited to get there this weekend. Last time we raced there at the end of last year we had a strong race and finished second, so I have good memories from there. I am still carrying my ankle injury, so Friday will be assessing the situation and seeing what strength and movement I have on the bike. At Knockhill I wasn’t able to complete the two races, so the aim for this weekend is to finish both races and get a good points haul. I felt good on the Friday and Saturday at Knockhill, but my body just wasn’t strong enough come Sunday. But we’ve had two weeks and I’ve been continuing the rehab and therapy, and last weekend I was at Goodwood with Honda, so did a lot of walking around the site and that’s helped with getting the leg strong again. I can’t wait to be back up the front again and I really hope we can do that this weekend, get some strong finishes and collect some more points towards our championship tally.

The last few rounds have been less than ideal for us really as a team, we have the potential which we have shown with podiums at the first three rounds, so it’s there we just need to harness that again and have some luck! Both Dan and Jason enjoy racing at the GP circuit and both in the past have secured podiums there. The main aim for this weekend is to be in the mix and in reach of championship points that will move us up in the overall standings. We have a lot of work to do and the team, and both riders know what is needed and I have full faith that we’re able to pull together and get back up there. Dan had bad luck at Knockhill with some issues and Jason was still nursing his injuries, so I’m hoping this weekend everything comes together and we can show our true potential again.
