Final fitting out for a week according to Steam Packet.

Maybe repair the damage they would have had to do to get the gearbox out of the ship

Putting some Manx artwork up too, I believe!

We've been using Mannannanannan to & from the TT for the past several years, but this year, as we seemed to be 3 & 4th on the boat, we went straight to the front as we've never been there before.
I was astonished to see pictures of Tasmania on the walls! I know that she was used on the Tasmanian route many years ago, but come on! they should have replaced those pictures by now, did they leave them in situ when she was being used by the US army?  Confused

Apparently the  new children's play area is being filled out and some final fittings being done so shouldn't be to long before Manxman will be settling sail to the Isle of Man.

some of the time lapse webcams are interesting
some boats are in and out quite quickly for large boats

RE: Manxman Arrival Gets Closer
Still scheduled for a maiden voyage on the 22nd July from Heysham, 02.15. Unfortunately I won't be able to be on that, we're doing Barbon Hill climb!
I was going to be on the previous "initial" maiden voyage, on my birthday!! 😢
Anyway, what is this boat going to do for 20 days? Are they putting on some day cruises/trips round the Island?
I seem to remember something like that when Ben first arrived.

We'll be on Manxman mid August for a family weekend away & then again the weekend after for the Manx.
Maybe we'll get to cross on her for the S100?

RE: Manxman Arrival Gets Closer
On arrival into Douglas this weekend Manxman has to undergo inspections by the iom ship registry including a test deployment of its marine Evacuation system, Manxman will also undergo berthing trials in Douglas and Heysham, also Crew Training, Staff familiarisation, stocking.

It is anticipated that if all goes to plan Manxman will begin limited service before the end of July.

A Round the Island Cruise is being planned further details will be released shortly.

A Welcome Ceremony for Manxman is Planned for Sunday 9th July.

RE: Manxman Arrival Gets Closer
Indeed, Manxman.
I've noticed, as I was trying to book our weekend away in August, that they don't seem to be taking bookings for "Manxman", even though that is the scheduled boat. I say this, because all the new cabins haven't been available & the pet lounge(s) have been mostly booked up. I find it hard to believe this to be the case, so maybe when she does finally begin they will release these places. We had to book my Wifes birthday weekend away 2 weeks later then her birthday, due to lack of space, so we may find space becomes available soon. Of course we'd then have to pay to change the tickets!  Confused

Details of Manxmans imminent arrival can be found here -

RE: Manxman Arrival Gets Closer
she looks a little slower since leaving port than it did on its way
are our waters slower
is the extra load for the kids play area slowing her down
or is it now in the hands of the steam packet and running on reduced power allready ???

Still doing 16 knots as she has been almost  all of the way

Our waters are rather more tidal than the med etc so could appear slower (or faster).

No point in getting to Douglas tomorrow morning when the welcoming committee's still in bed anyway.

The Manxman has arrived and is now berthed in Douglas where the Ben usually is so everyone can see the Manxman, you can see Manxman on manxradio webcams  very clearly at the moment.
