RE: Official Statement
I joined the commentary late on the internet last night and there was just music and no commentary, thought they'd been a serious incident.

Terrible news that.

Thoughts go out to all family and friends of those involved.

RE: Southern 100 2023
Given the tragedy on Tuesday, I'm very sorry to bring up another one, but please spare a thought today for Gavin Lee and my friend Marc McDonald, who both lost their lives at the event in an accident on July 13th 1999.

Gone but not forgotten. RIP.

RE: Southern 100 2023
My worst moment at the IOM was coming across the memorial stone to Gavin Lee from his wife and children. Flood of tears.

I never saw Marc McDonald race but I loved watching Gavin on the small bikes.

I only ever rode the S100 course once - open roads (of course) and on my enduro bike.

Thoughts with all those involved.

RE: Red Flag Incident - Official Statement
Are the remaining injured individuals in a critical situation or is it the manner of the incident that concerns you?

RE: Red Flag Incident - Official Statement
its how the statements are worded you just know this is not a routine incident if you understand where im coming from
been around this sport for far to many years to realise this is being handled differently
never know a area be closed off for anywhere near as long as this was
and the statements are brief and worded in a manner so different

RE: Red Flag Incident - Official Statement
I couldn’t agree more. I am very concerned. The sport has always been able to accept the consequences of rider fatalities. We lost 6 last year at the TT alone.

I think we all realise that when marshals and especially spectators get involved, it could be a game changer. I marshal and spectate at the TT every year and accept that being in the vicinity of motorcycles in close formation at speeds approaching 200mph can have consequences.

Insurance issues has our Irish racing scene on its knees.

Sympathy to all those involved this incident.

I agree, it has me very concerned as to what actually happened.

I've never known a whole event being cancelled before it's actually got going.

All I can think is, because it's involved spectator and a marshal it becomes a bigger investigation than a competitor (tragically) losing their life.

That's what I've been thinking. Makes me shiver to think what people have witnessed.
