SAD NEWS RAY PICKRELL
Posted on CRMC site the sad news that Ray Pickrell has passed away.
Another great character from the 60s under the chequered flag.

I am so sad to hear of ray's loss. He was a particular hero of mine. My first visit to the TT, I saw him sweep through Crosby, and I can see him as clearly now as then.
He was a quiet, modest, but amazingly talented man. There will never be another like him.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Yes the pride that his family feel, will help ease the pain.

Sincere thoughts for all his family and friends.

Ray Pickrell - what a character

I was very saddened to hear this news.
The man was such an individual.
When I read the name then, I thoight "Winkle"
Does anyone else remember Ray on his little Aermacchi "Winkle"
racing at Crystal Palace amingst other places? Against the likes
of Small Part. Happy days
Of course, he will be remembered mostly for his exploits on
the Dunstall Dominator.
Who will forget that distinctive yellow chevroned helmet.
I manage to take one of my best ever TT pics of Ray "flying"
over Ballaugh, straight and level.
I later had that pic turned into one of those imitation bronze palques
which I presented at a TT supporters bash at Ally Pally.
He was so modest that night.
Made a huge impression that night.
He said that the Dunstall was easy to ride and that I
had more to cope with on my road going 750 Honda, going to work!
Gone but not forgotten Mr Pickrell.

R.I.P.

and thanks for the memories.
