Redundant MotoGp bikes
I was just involved in chat in the canteen (one thing I will
miss when I retire!) about the dramas of the last MotoGp
of the year.

As we chatted about things like WHY did Valli fall etc, I had
a thought.

With the change in the rules for the MotoGp class, what will
happen to all that "redundant" machinery?
Can they be used in any other racing, or are they truy
redundant?
I cant say I remember this situation happening before?
Will HONDA put some in museums as they always have done?
Will some simply be broken up?

Wouldnt it be nice if some could find their way into the TT?

Ah well, I can dream.

What do others thing?

I remember Honda Britain crushing RC30's some years back.
I am sure Honda could manage to get the MotoGP bikes to the TT and yes they would be a sight to behold.
Put it on your wish list.

I have dclared this on my wish list, ages ago!
Not least during a TT chat show at Villa Marina in 2005.
My question was to John McG.
Basically I asked John if we might have seen a Honda 5 had Joey
still been around.
Johns reply was to the effect that HE would love the chance to ride
one around the Island. But, he was concerned that the races might
be boring cos of the superiority.
I pointed out that SOME of us think they are boring now cos all the
bikes are Proddie machines really. Awesomely quick but so samey.
Intersting moment that!
But I agree that Honda could bring one or two over but remember, there
is no open or prototype class for them to enter.
Unless....... can we get the Honda 5 homologated as Superbike?
No?
Oh well.

Sorry MV the Departmemt of Tourism and Pleasure have made the following statement:

"The Honda 5 would be too dangerous for the Isle of Man and the other manufacturers and the 'big teams' would not like it.
We have just done a survey and only 15.7% of the fans would like to see real racing machines on the Mountain Course, they said they would prefer to watch the same looking bikes in every race with no sound or smell if possible.
Most of them prefered to have one lap races so they could get back to the excitment of Douglas as soon as possible."

Join the minority MV!
Or you could join my new 'Society for the Return of Very Real Road Racing'
