Broadband on the Island
I would like to bring my Broadband setup over to the Island...

Can one just plug in one's ZoomBox or is it more complicated than that..

I find going back to dialup while on the Island is so terribly slow, so can anyone help at short notice to advise me whether I can use my laptop on Manx lines using a broadband box ?? Or any other ways of getting a bit more speed of download/upload...?

Anyone technical out there who can positively help please ???

I set out tomorrow so I need help quickly. Thanks

Ian

I'm unsure what you're asking here, Ian, but if you just wanted to plug an ADSL modem/router into a telephone connection over here, it wouldn't work as you need an appropriate broadband account (ManxNet, Domicilium, etc).

If you just want an ADSL connection to upload stuff, check emails etc, send me a PM and you can pop over here to my flat and connect in to my router assuming I'm not up on the mountain marshalling, naturally Lol

Alternatively, if you're on wireless, I think that the Java Lounge cafe above the cheap bookshop near Cowley Groves, Chrystals etc estate agents in Douglas has free wi-fi assuming you're having a coffee Smile
