New Investigation Into Helicopter Crash
Taken from Manx Radio website:

Almost four years on, a new investigation is to be opened into the helicopter crash which killed eleven time T.T. winner Steve Hislop.

The Scottish Crown Office has agreed to launch a fatal accident enquiry into the incident which happened on the 30th July, 2003. The Onchan resident was flying a Robinson R44 alone when it came down on moorland at Teviothead in the Scottish Borders.

Over two years ago, an Air Accident Investigation Branch report concluded that "pilot error was probably to blame", although a malfunction "could not be eliminated".

Family and friends said the findings failed to take account of many witness statements describing the weather and low flying military aircraft in the area at the time.

Steve's mum Margaret says she hopes the new probe will uncover the truth.
