Circuit under threat
http://www.petitiononline.com/306007/

The future of Castle Combe appears to be in doubt after a noise complaint by a couple of villagers. Please sign the petition and help save this circuit. Where next? Thruxton, Aintree, Scarborough?

Thanks

Guys please see the thread on BSB forum.

Thanks for letting us know about that Stella. It was e-mailed to me by a bike racer and I took it for granted...

Yes, it appeared on steveenglish too, but the actual petition site seems to have been disabled now.
I think it may originally have been genuine, but the time has passed and it is no longer needed.

From Combe today
They are not about to close or under threat.
The petition currently doing the rounds is totally out of date.
I have confirmed this with the circuit.
It seems some one has found a link to the old petition, although no one at Combe could tell me why it was still on the net, they assured me it was not needed.

Shamelessly lifted off Steve's place!!

I was outright lap and race record holder for Thruxton - for a very short time: the first meeting on the new circuit (late 60s?) was a Bantam Racing Club or British Formula Racing Club one, and I won the first race ever held. Fame at last  Lol Lol

I have driven a Mondeo round on the Ford launch day!
Could see how good it must be on a bike.
I am in Andover, so where are you?

I was at Thruxton a few years ago covering the BTCC and Enid in the press office says: "Mike, you've been selected to go round the track in a Ferrari. is that ok?"

One of the race school instructors was taking people round in an F355. It was wet and he didn't hold back! Quite an experience...

So MV you must remember the straw bale & rope spectator barriers Lol
I used to do a bit of marshaling there ( used to get a bit cold stuck out at village all day for the 500 miler !! ). My most memorable day was in the early 70s. i was ready to take up my post on the first corner when someone said a Sidecar drivers passenger had'nt turned up & asked me if i would like to have a go. Before i knew it i was in the chair of Malcolm Attrill's HRD outfit, if i remember we finished 2nd. in one race. :yah
Grey-haired riders don't get that way from pure luck.
