Official Tyre Partner confirmed
Tyre manufacturer Maxxis has been named as the Official Tyre Partner for the 2008 Isle of Man TT Races.

Maxxis will enjoy category exclusivity, making it the only tyre manufacturer to be officially affiliated to the races and actively promoted by the organisers in all communications.

The sponsorship package entitles Maxxis to significant trackside advertising, branding on the footbridge crossing the start straight, branding on the start line Grandstand, hospitality, prime position advertising in the TT Programme and branding on the press and winners’ enclosure back drops and on the Isle of Man TT website.

Maxxis International UK’s managing director Derek McMartin said:

‘With 37¾ miles of public roads making up its legendary course, the Isle of Man has been styled the “road racing capital of the world”, and we’re thrilled to be associated with such a prestigious event as the TT festival.’
‘This is a tremendous opportunity for us to raise the profile of the Maxxis brand and our high performing new Supermaxx Sport tyre among arguably the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic motorcycle sports fans.’
In addition to its on-course presence, Maxxis is supplying tyres for the Yamaha R1 motorcycles used by the Travelling Marshals and running a brand awareness campaign with web-based competitions during and after the TT Races.

The Maxxis Bykerbabes will be on the Isle of Man throughout Race Week, handing out promotional gifts and encouraging fans to enter the competitions. T-shirts and jackets are up for grabs, along with the top prize of a VIP day out at a round of the 2008 British Superbike Championship.

Chris McGahan, who is sponsored by Sam Crossett Motorcycles, will be on the start line for the Relentless Supersport and Scottish Life International Superstock races and will be putting his Maxxis tyres through their paces on the new 2008 Yamaha R6.

Isle of Man Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw said:

‘Many fans of the TT will know of Maxxis, a world-class tyre manufacturer which has been committed to the British motorcycle industry for the past 30 years.’
‘We are delighted to have a partner of its calibre supporting the TT festival, which promises to be an amazing sporting spectacle with a stronger entry list than ever thanks to the return of so many star names.’

Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by traffic from both sides.
