TT Trophies
Was it an oversight or a deliberate omission not to print a list of awards for the TT,by that I mean prize money and all the details of team prize, fastest lap trophies etc. in the programme

RE: TT Trophies
You know, I'm not really that bothered.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the racing, (which I still think is the whole point of the TT) the atmosphere and the craic with friends old and new.
I'm not that bothered how much people won, whatever it was it was well earned.
There are loads of TT maps around and the magazine which comes with the programme these days is great.. in the good old days, we got a programme, a sheet to write results on and a fold out map. Now we can have all the results on our computers, read background and predictions and see fantastic photos of our hereoes in magazine, and lie in the sun at the back of the grandstand seeing our Senior heroes get their awards while we quaff a pint of Okells and eat a burger. That's progress for me.
I am a happy, but exhausted marshalling bunny.
PS... if you really want to know what the prize money, awards etc are, it's all on the iomtt site in the riders section. It's not a secret and not a conspiracy!

Helen riders had to sign 30day contract forbiding them from speaking out about what or didnot get. And if they speak out they lose what ever they got and all goes back in the FatMansPotBonk

RE: TT Trophies
Certainly every rider thoroughly deserves every penny they get for the thrills they give us,I for one like to know who is up for what when the racing is in progress, especially the trophies.

I would guess very few visitors have computer access while they are here.

I suppose my point is that another little bit of tradition appears to be gone and I lament that, including having the lap and race records shown on the race card.

No it is unlikely to be a conspiracy but maybe change for changes sake.

RE: TT Trophies
FC does that mean start money, which is private, or prize money too,now that is taxpayers money and it should be public knowledge

RE: TT Trophies
It is not directly taxpayers money, data protection prevents the powers to be from disclosing who what and when is paid, you can only be told what the total sum spent is.

Beepee... yes, it would be nice, and I was being a bit nippy with my comments about the map etc, but I suppose it is a question of trying to squeeze everything in, and so much has been added in terms of articles, profiles and photos.
I'm going to enjoy reading the Programme magazine and Island Racer for the next couple of weeks.. lots of mistakes for anoraks to spot, too... deliberate... well, perhaps not!

RE: TT Trophies
I have no problem with start money being confidential, the prize money is in the public domain. Wish there was more of both, and more help further down the field.

7 TRAVELLING ALLOWANCE
Whilst no concessions for competitors are currently available directly from any travel companies accessing the Isle of Man, the Department of Tourism and Leisure will offer a travelling allowance to all competitors travelling to the Island. This allowance is tiered depending on the origin of each solo rider and sidecar driver and the estimated cost of travel. This allowance will be available from the 31st May 2008 and will only be paid to riders who have commenced practice.
The allowance will be paid in GBP and will be available by cheque from the Cashiers Office at the TT Grandstand, or by electronic payment direct to a bank account of the riders and drivers choosing. All competitors qualifying for an allowance must stipulate their preferred method of payment on the entry form. This allowance is only available to competitors competing in the TT Races on the Mountain Circuit.
The travel allowance is tiered as follows:
• UK Mainland Solo £500
• UK Mainland Sidecar £550
• NI, Eire and Europe Solo £600
• NI, Eire and Europe Sidecar £650
• Rest of World Solo £700
• Rest of World Sidecar £750
Any competitor wishing to apply for additional appearance support should do so in writing to the TT and Motorsport Development Team at:

RE: TT Trophies
I have to admit that I don't know why some of the things mentioned in this thread were missed out of the programme and I will take it up with the team behind it when we debrief in the near future. There is no denying that it was a great programme in terms of quality and content but there is always room for improvement. No conspiracy theory about prize money though - all the info is available in the regulations, so it is already in the public domain.

Colin - this thing about 30 day contracts you keep mentioning, you have totally wrong. If we agree to pay an appearance fee we have to have an agreement as to what each party will do and/or be responsible for. Nothing sinister about that, and pretty much the same as we would look to procure any other service.

The point in the contracts you are referring to means that both the contracted and the DTL agree not to make unjustified statements about each other. Either may of course make justified statements if they can justify them!!!

Also, this has nothing to do with the ACU or ACUE, so again, you are incorrect.

Best wishes

Paul

RE: TT Trophies
Paul without naming the rider or riders I was asked to bring it to the forum in order to get a response which you have thank you. At the time of being asked it was said that they would not ask themselves or query the contract as they were unsure how far you or whoever would react and could not afford to lose any monies. I personally feel that this would have been a matter for the riders reps to resolve and can not understand why they would not go down that route. Maybe another issue that needs resolved at a later date perhaps.

Thanks for the replies but i have my own opinion but surely the race programe should be vetted by someone in control whoever that might be before its printed?
