Doug Randall and I set up CB Radio in the late 70s to check his progress in the TT during the races---He did not have one on the bike but with the help of a number of CB users (mainly manx CB club members) we were able to follow Doug round the course--We used it at other race meetings before and after the TT long before mobile phones---
Question One....Is there anyone out there who remembers himself being involved in this experiment...(There were 15 of you at least)
Question Two....When did CB become legal in the UK so destroying a very useful mode of communication...(B....Y Kids)
Help please

On Thursday this week it will be 20 years since we lost Jock Taylor.
On 6th October, the Kirkcaldy Club will be celebrating his life with a spectacular event. The Jock Taylor Memorial sidecar races have been held every year since his death, and have brought some of the greatest names in racing to Knockhill.
This year it will be a round of the European Championships, and there will be some wonderful guests.
Steve Webster was at Knockhill for the BSB a few weeks ago, and is looking forward to being there.
The Club are anxious to contact anyone who was involved in Jock's racing career, to make sure everyone is there. If they haven't managed to reach you, and you are one of these lucky people, email me and I will pass on your details.
This is a date for your diary... a weekend to remember.
5th and 6th October...Knockhill...BE THERE!
Limited beds at the Coven Garden......book now!!

JOEY DUNLOP INJURED RIDERS FUND BIKE RIDE AT MGP!
A lap of the TT course on a tandem is taking place on Sunday 25th Aug to raise money for the fund.
Starting from the Grandstand at 1pm the lap will be ridden in stages by three 2 man teams.
The first leg from the start to the Glen Helen Hotel will be covered by Lightweight MGP favourite
NIGEL "THE BISHOP" BEATTIE and his spannerman PAUL "STEALTH" COLLINS.
At Glen Helen they will hand over to the next pairing, one half of which is rumoured to be top TT and Double MGP winner RICHARD "MILKY" QUAYLE who will continue to Parliament Square Ramsey.
The third pairing will have the unenviable task of crossing The Mountain back to The Grandstand, (Two regular cycle racing competitors are doing that bit!!).
Collection buckets will be brought around the pubs on the route just in front of the riders and we hope to raise a few quid along the way.
We'll keep you posted on the event as it all comes together.
Cheers
