I pay considerably less to phone home while I am in Berlin !

Ian, Cancel your direct debit immediately, do not pay the bill, let them argue it out, tell them you are going to deal with ofcom and then report it to ofcom, unless told in writing that vodafone have an arrangement with cable and wireless you should be entitled to assume that the roaming agreement is with manx telecom and not any pirate that feels like ripping you off. Get another contract immediately with a different network so that you still have a mobile phone. As your network provider they are oblideged to use the cheapest or most cost effective supplier for you when roaming.

Thanks Malcolm, I have already been in touch with OFCOM who in a nutshell can't help, but they could have if I had been going to the IOM this week !!

It is an awful rip-off innnit....how can they sleep at night..

Manx Telecom say that the Cable and Wireless signal is stronger than theirs so all visitors get "grabbed" by C&W when they leave the ferry as happened to me....all visitors take note...

Come on Manx Telecom, boost up your signal and blat out C&W !!

Absolutely of no use now but for future reference disable the automatic server function on your phone and opt for manual select instead,it may take a minute or two but you should then be able to choose MT.

Surely to be competitive, one must be able to give a service better and cheaper than the opposition.....Not true in this case.

I have contacted them and they say there is nothing they can do.

I won't ever use THEM again !!

errrrmmm am I the only one that goes on holiday to get away from everything at home? Thirty, or even twenty years ago, no one would have thought of keeping talking to the folks back home. Never mind giving up drink, or cigs to detox - try throwing or at least locking away your mobile and your laptop for two weeks - it can be really liberating!

But I have no problem with Manx Telecom !!

This is a HI-JACK of my mobile and shouldn't be allowed !
